Yoga For Back Pain
Relief
Yoga has been
a popular exercise associated with meditation, and many
feel that yoga for back pain relief is
one of the best treatments for back pain and numerous
other symptoms. This therapeutic method uses postures or
“asanas” that stimulates the surge of healing “prana” or
the life energy that flows throughout our bodies. Most
people who practice this physical exercise claim that it
has a lot of health benefits including treatment of
different illnesses.
Since the mid
19th century, yoga has become widely known to the western
public. From there, it has been used as therapy for
various medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes,
cancer, and even AIDS. There are also growing evidences
that show how effective yoga is when it comes to the
treatment of chronic back pains.
This type of
back pain is severe and lasts for more than three months.
Unlike acute back pain, the chronic type cannot be cured
by simple exercises, pain killers, and other home
remedies. Other patients consult their doctors to be
advised of further physical therapy and stronger
medicines. Some even recommends
surgery.
An
experimental research was conducted to prove the
effectiveness of yoga therapy to a sample suffering from
chronic back pains. Although further studies that involve
a larger sample size are needed, there were still
positive results which show that yoga is indeed a
reliable therapeutic method for relieving pain. Here are
some of the highly recommended yoga poses for beginners
that will be able to treat your back aches and provide
you of better postures.
Fish
While lying on
your back, bend your knees and keep your arms to your
sides. Gently arch your back as far as you can go and
slowly lift it off the floor using your elbows as
support. If possible tilt your head back so that its
crown is resting at the floor’s surface. Take deep
breaths from your diaphragm and concentrate at this
position for a while.
Corpse
This pose is
for your body to relax and let go of all the tension you
are feeling. Simply lie on your back, arms relaxed on
your sides with your palms flat against the floor.
Breathe slowly and clear out your minds while you
meditate.
Cat
With your back
flat on the floor, and your arms at your sides, maintain
a straight position making sure that your hands are
directly in line with your shoulders and your knees are
under your hips. Spread your fingers and holding your
head loosely, focus your eyes on the spot where the floor
shows between your hands. Take a deep breath. When it’s
time for you to exhale, arch your back and bend your head
forward directing your vision towards your navel. Hold
this position for a few seconds before returning to your
relaxed pose.

relief. However, some of these advanced poses need proper
